Indy Tire Centers Inc., which also does business as Best-One of Indy, will finalize its acquisition of Sheridan, Ind.-based R&T Tire & Auto Service, effective April 1.
R&T Tire & Auto, which has two locations, was founded by the father-son team of Ray and Tom Alexander in 1965.
The dealership has a retail outlet in Noblesville, Ind. In addition to consumer tires, the company's Tipton, Ind., store sells commercial truck and ag tires.
"After 56 years, Tom decided the timing was right" to exit the tire business, according to Indy Tire Centers officials.
"It is important for customers to understand that it is business as usual with the same great local people, same great service and quality products that R&T Tire’s raving fans have come to trust over the years."
Tom's son-in-law, Jim Kitchel, and daughter, Tina Kitchel, will remain onboard.
“We look forward to continuing the legacy that Tom Alexander and his family have built in the communities of Noblesville and Tipton – delivering superior customer service and being a trusted provider of retail, commercial and agricultural tires," say Indy Tire Centers officials.
The acquisition will give Indy Tire Centers 13 locations throughout central Indiana.
