Purcell Tire & Rubber Co. has acquired Commerce City, Colo.-based OTR, commercial truck and industrial tire dealership Callender Tire Inc. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
“We are excited about the prospects that this expansion provides and the markets that it opens to our specialty retread product," says Purcell Tire President and CEO Roger Lucas.
Founded in 2000 by Tom and Anne Callender, Callender Tire serves the Denver, Aurora, Parker, Castle Rock, Centennial, Englewood, Littleton, Arvada, Golden, Erie, Westminster, Longmont, Loveland, and Greeley, Colo., markets.
In addition to new tires, the company provides mobile service and 24/7 emergency roadside assistance to commercial customers.
"A location close to Denver - along with the acquisition of Quality Tire in 2021 - will allow us to bring innovative and new tire solutions to our customers," says Lucas. (Purcell's acquisition of Quality Tire added nine outlets throughout Colorado, Idaho, Montana and Utah to the dealership's footprint.)
Based in Potosi, Mo., Purcell is one of the 20 largest independent tire dealerships in the U.S., according to the 2021 MTD 100, which was published in the July 2021 edition of MTD.
It also is the fourth largest retreader in the U.S., according to MTD's 2021 Top 50 Retreaders list.
And Purcell is one of the 10 largest independent commercial tire dealerships in the U.S., according to MTD's latest ranking of the biggest commercial tire dealerships.
