Despite inflation and climbing interest rates, fleets are still ordering new trucks as September Class 8 orders in the United States reached an all-time high.
Class 8 orders totaled around 53,700 units last month, which Class 5 through Class 7 orders amounted to around 26,600 units, according to a recent report from ACT Research.
"The strength in orders reflects (original equipment manufacturers) having fully opened their order-boards for 2023 a bit earlier than normal, as the seasonally weak period for truck orders typically runs May (through) September," notes Eric Crawford, ACT's vice president and senior analyst.
"Class 8 orders were sensational no matter how you slice the data."
