In 2023 Love’s Travel Stops will expand the footprint of both its truck care businesses and retreading operations. The company plans to open 15 Love's Truck Care and Speedco locations, as well as two new retreading plants.
Love's says it is adding 75 maintenance bays, 75 roadside service trucks, and also expanding services to fleet yards. Even before this retreading expansion, Love's is the nation's eighth-largest retreader in the U.S., according to MTD's 2022 list of the Top Retreaders.
Those plans are in addition to efforts to grow its primary business of operating travel stops. Love's says it will open 25 new truck stops, remodel existing ones and add 30 new restaurants.
“What Tom Love started in 1964 has evolved into more than a store that offers gas, and we’ll continue to push the envelope with the addition of new services, amenities and partnerships,” says Shane Wharton, president of Love’s. “Being innovative and strategic with what we do adds reasons for customers to choose us and we’ll continue to find new ways to offer good value at competitive prices across the Love’s Family of Companies.”
The company will also soon announce long-term plans to remodel existing stores. Some will involve bathroom updates, while others will be comprehensive remodels. Stores will remain open during construction work.
Love's also announced a partnership with Daimler Truck North America to provide light mechanical warranty work on Freightliner vehicles.
The company also will add to its training opportunities for diesel technicians and mechanics with a pair of new Love’s Truck Care Academies, which will give Love's four sites for training.
Companywide, Love's says it plans to add 2,000 employees to its team in 2023.
