Tony Sagona, CEO and president of New York-based Midtown Tire Inc., has been elected chairman of the board of Del-Nat Tire Corp.
Sagona has been affiliated with Del-Nat since 1999 and a member of the board for the last seven years. He started in the tire business in 1973, joining General Tire & Rubber Co.’s store division.
In 1983 he became a partner in Midtown Tire, a wholesaler in Rochester, N.Y.; he was named CEO and president in 2006. The business has grown from four delivery trucks to a fleet of more than 50 and has warehouses in two more cities -- Buffalo and Syracuse.
Memphis, Tenn.-based Del-Nat has annual sales of more than $200 million. In January, the full-line tire company added commercial truck tires to its exclusive Akuret line.
