Automechanika Shanghai, the international trade fair for automotive parts, equipment and service suppliers, will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, China, on Dec. 9-11.
It is Asia’s largest automotive trade fair and the second largest Automechanika fair, reports show organizers Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. and the China National Automotive Industry International Corp. (CNAICO).
The event will encompass a broad spectrum of products and services for the automotive original equipment and aftermarket. Products will cover the sectors parts and systems, accessories and tuning, repair and maintenance, IT and management to service station and car wash.
In 2008, Automechanika Shanghai had a record number of 1,982 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions showcasing their products in eight halls covering 92,000 square meters. The show attracted more than 30,800 visitors from 104 countries and regions. The number of exhibitors and visitors were up to 59% and 41%, respectively.
The 2009 fair is expected to reach 100,000 square meters this year. To date, 70% of the exhibition space has already been sold. Already confirmed for the 2009 show are four overseas pavilions from Germany, Singapore, UK and the U.S.
The German pavilion is sponsored by Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in cooperation with Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA). The Association of Small & Medium Enterprises supported by IE Singapore organizes the Singaporean pavilion under the International Marketing Activities Programme (IMAP) grant. The UK pavilion is supported by the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders Ltd. (SMMT), and the U.S. pavilion is certified by the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Analysts are predicting that China’s economy will start to rebound in the second quarter of this year as a result of government’s initiatives. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers forecasts that China’s vehicle sales will reach 10.2 million units for 2009, an increase of nearly 9%. This will make China the world’s largest automobile market.
