Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. has named Soo Il Lee CEO and president. He will serve alongside existing CEO Hyun Bum Cho. Lee's appointment is part of a restructuring that will take effect Jan. 1, 2018. It includes the retirement of Vice Chairman and CEO Seung-hwa Suh. The company says Suh will serve in an advisory role.
Hankook said Lee will serve "as a separate representative of the company" and will oversee Hankook's management. Lee joined Hankook in 1987 and in 2006 was named vice president and director of marketing. In 2009 he became senior vice president and chief operating officer of Hankook's Americas headquarters, and in 2013 he served in the same capacity at Hankook's Chinese headquarters. In 2016 he was promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer of the China headquarters. In 2017 he was named executive vice president, chief marketing officer and chief corporate management officer for the company..
Along with Lee, one executive vice president, five senior vice presidents and 17 vice presidents were appointed. Hankook says it has restructured its organization "to respond to the global market and customers with more agility."
