Truck tonnage fell 1.4% last month following a much smaller decrease in May, according to the American Trucking Associations (ATA), which tracks freight movement.
However, compared with June 2009, tonnage grew 7.6% last month, just below May's 7.7% year-over-year increase.
ATA Chief Economist Bob Costello says tonnage growth will probably "moderate in the months ahead as the economy decelerates and year-over-year comparisons become more difficult."
