Longtime Bridgestone leader Christine Karbowiak has announced that she will retire after more than 28 years of service to the company.
Karbowiak, who joined Bridgestone as senior counsel for its retail operations unit in 1992, will continue to serve in her current roles as executive vice president, executive officer, chief sustainability officer and executive vice president, chief administrative officer, until the end of 2020.
She also will continue to serve as a member of Bridgestone’s global executive committee and as a member of the executive committee of Bridgestone Americas through the end of the year.
During her career, Karbowiak has advanced to a number of roles with Bridgestone. She was named chief administrative officer and executive vice president of Bridgestone Americas in 2010 and became the company’s chief risk officer the following year, with oversight of communications, government affairs and other functions.
In 2011, she was named a vice president and officer of Bridgestone Corp. and was named to the Tokyo, Japan-based tiremaker’s global executive committee three years later. Karbowiak was named executive vice president and executive officer in 2019.
She also serves on Bridgestone Americas’ board of directors, as well as the board of Bridgestone China Asia Pacific.
