Giti Tire (USA) Ltd. brand, GT Radial, has welcomed Dylan Hughes, Formula DRIFT driver to the GT Radial team as the brand looks to build on its 2022 season with six podium finishes.
Hughes, who scored consecutive third-place finishes in Seattle, Wash. and St. Louis, Mo. in 2021 on GT Radial tires, will again be competing on GT Radial Champiro SX2 RS tires, which are produced at the Giti Tire passenger and light truck tire plant in Richburg, S.C.
"Honored to be back with Team GT Radial after a quick hiatus,” says Hughes.
“We’re back and feeling better than ever thanks to the SX2 RS. The competition is going to be steep in 2023, but we’re ready to throw down with the best of them!”
GT Radial has renewed its partnership with Formula DRIFT for another three-year term to provide tires to teams in the PRO Championship. Additionally, GT Radial will remain the Official Tire of the PROSPECT series for up-and-coming drivers for another two years.
In the Formula DRIFT PRO Series, GT Radial got second position in the 2022 FD Tire Cup, which awards points to the top finishers for each tire brand. After finishing fifth in its first year, GT Radial rose to third in 2021 before securing second at the final round of 2022.
“Formula DRIFT has proven to be an excellent showcase for our ‘American-engineered, American-produced’ Champiro SX2 RS tires,” says Mike Meeim, motorsports manager for GT Radial.
“We are thrilled to renew our partnership with Formula DRIFT and to have Dylan rejoin our team.”
Hughes finished eighth in overall driver points standings on GT Radial tires in 2021. He finished in sixth place overall last year.
