Chinese consumer tire imports are the hottest topic in the tire industry, and President Barack Obama finds himself in the hot seat.
Will he accept or reject the proposal of additional tariffs (55% in the first year) set forth by the United States International Trade Commission? Will he amend it? Will he support the recommendations from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (whatever they are)?
Or will he decide to do something completely different?
With the Sept. 17 deadline approaching, Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich weighs in on the controversy with what he believes is a reasonable compromise.
To find out what he advises the president to do, click on the following link, "Tariffs: the 5% solution," in his video blog, which also can be found in his B.O.B. blog or on MTD TV.
