The sale of its retail division to AAA Allied Group will allow Bob Sumerel Tire Co. Inc. to accelerate the growth of its commercial tire business, says Todd Sumerel, the Erlanger, Ky.-based dealership's president.
"It's going to put us in a position to be on a more aggressive growth plan," he recently told www.moderntiredealer.com. "It will put us on a faster track for growth. We're going to be in an aggressive expansion mode."
Bob Sumerel Tire is the 14th largest independent commercial tire dealership in the U.S., according to Modern Tire Dealer research. It operates 12 commercial-only outlets and five combined commercial-retail outlets. The company also has six retread plants.
AAA Allied Group's purchase of Bob Sumerel's retail division, which includes 30 stores, is expected to close on Nov. 1. The acquisition was announced last week.
