ATD to close Terry’s Alliance headquarters

April 9, 2014

Following the announcement in February 2014 that American Tire Distributors Holdings Inc. (ATD) would purchase Alliance, Ohio-based Terry’s Tire Town for $345 million, ATD will close Terry’s Alliance distribution center and headquarters and transition operations to other locations.

According to Ron Sinclair, ATD’s senior vice president of marketing, the distribution center will close in June, with the headquarters continuing operations until the end of December.

Sinclair says ATD operates multiple distribution centers in Ohio, including Canton, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus.

“In addition, we have distribution centers in Pittsburgh and Poca, W.Va.,” said Sinclair.

“These six distribution centers will service the same geographic area as the one Terry’s distribution center in Alliance. With six centers (versus one) and a broader and deeper product offering, we feel confident the service to our customers will increase.

“As such, we will consolidate the Terry’s Tire Town Alliance distribution center operation into the six DCs mentioned above in the June timeframe. In terms of the headquarters operation, we will transition many of those roles to our North Carolina field support center between now and the end of the year.”

Sinclair says it is important to note that ATD will offer positions to many of the Terry’s 150 employees in the Ohio distribution centers and in the N.C. field support center.
