Toyo Tire Corp.'s long-awaited consumer tire plant in Serbia has officially opened. The factory will provide tires to the United States market, as well as Europe.

Announced in 2019, the 150-acre facility is expected to reach its full capacity of five million tires per year during the second half of 2023. (Construction of the plant began in May 2020.)

In a May 2022 interview with MTD, Michael Graber, president and CEO of Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp., said the Serbian plant "will provide much-needed supply to the U.S. market and allow us to improve efficiency worldwide."

Toyo's plant in White, Ga., has the capacity to manufacture 40,000 passenger and 6,500 light truck tires per day, according to MTD research.
