The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has opened dates for its Certified Automotive Tire Service (ATS) Advanced Instructor training to tire dealers in the Pacific Northwest next month. The in-person class will take place Aug. 16-19 in Seattle, Wash.
Certified ATS is a 300-level and 400-level certification program that provides instruction on the recommended procedures for servicing passenger and light truck tires. Those who pass the four-day class will be certified as advanced ATS instructors, allowing them to certify ATS instructors and technicians in the field.
The class consists of 15 modules and it also includes an exclusive module on tire conditions analysis that uses images from TIA’s Passenger and Light Truck Tire Conditions Manual to educate technicians on the most likely reasons for common irregular treadwear patterns.
ATS instructor certification includes a TIA ATS Manual, TIA Certified ATS instructor certificate and 13 TIA certified ATS instructor uniform patches.
Certification is valid for two years, at which time instructors will receive notification from TIA that it is time to recertify. The recertification exam is available online.
Course tuition is $950. The tuition does not include hotel accommodations.
Additional Certified ATS Advanced Instructor classes are scheduled as follows:
Oct. 18 – 21, Louisville, Ky.
Nov. 15 – 18, Baltimore, Md
Dec. 6 – 9, Charlotte, N.C.
