"Actions to ramp up tire production are on schedule and progressing well" at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s Tupelo, Miss., plant, according to a statement from Goodyear.
The plant went off-line April 1 due to an early-morning tornado.
"We remain on target for full ramp-up in the third quarter of 2023," says Goodyear.
From a daily production capacity standpoint, the Tupelo factory is the second biggest plant in Goodyear’s North American manufacturing network, according to MTD’s 2023 Facts Issue. (Click here for more.)
In a statement filed near the end of April, Goodyear said it expects to lose $110 million to $130 million due to the shutdown of the factory.
"We currently expect to be able to restart and begin ramping up production at the Tupelo tire manufacturing facility by the beginning of June 2023, with full ramp-up not expected until the third quarter of 2023," Goodyear said.
