TIA Introduces Marvin Bozarth ETS Technician Award

Feb. 22, 2024

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has announced the establishment of the Marvin Bozarth ETS Technician of the Year Award, which will be an annual honor.

The award, which was introduced on the first day of TIA's 2024 OTR Tire Conference, honors the late Marvin Bozarth, a Tire Industry Hall of Fame member and tire service tech training advocate.

Keith Jarman, president of TIA, recounted the beginning of TIA’s technician training program, which was a “vision championed by Marvin Bozarth over 30 years ago.”

“We want to celebrate the technicians who are out there servicing OTR tires and wheels,” he said.

“It is my honor to announce that TIA will be recognizing the Marvin Bozarth ETS Technician of the Year at next year’s conference.”

Eligibility requires TIA membership and completion of the association's 200-level Commercial Tire Service (CTS) and Earthmover Tire Service (ETS) programs.

Each TIA member can nominate one OTR technician and finalists are selected by the TIA board of directors. The winner is then selected by an anonymous committee made up of OTR manufacturers and suppliers.

“The winner will receive the rockstar treatment they so richly deserve,” continued Jarman.

“TIA will cover their registration, hotel accommodations, travel expenses and taxes – flying them and a guest to the 2025 OTR Tire Conference.”

Jarman noted that the award is made possible through sponsorship and announced his commitment as the first sponsor.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for $1,000, with extra funds allocated towards TIA training scholarships for the year.

“Marvin was the strongest supporter of technician training and education," Jarman recalled.

“With the support of the people in this room, we can honor his memory by recognizing an OTR technician who embodies everything that he stood for.”
