Nexen Tire has established its own winter tire testing center in Ivalo, Finland, that will serve as the “foundation” of the company’s winter tire research and evaluations.
Nexen had been using another winter tire testing facility in Finland under short-term contracts, but “with rising demand for test site reservations, securing sufficient testing time has become challenging,” according to Nexen officials.
“To address this, the company built a dedicated winter testing center, ensuring stable winter testing throughout the season,” extending Nexen’s winter tire testing season from one month to four months.”
The center also will conduct 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake testing.
“As winter tire standards continue to strengthen, this investment is a crucial step to secure our technological competitiveness,” says Nexen CEO Travis Kang. "The testing center will not only reduce our development periods, but also enhance the performance of our winter tires through core technology research, reinforcing our presence in key markets while laying the groundwork for future growth in global markets."
