Two new GT Radial tires are on display during this week's SEMA360 event: the Champiro SX2 RS, an extreme performance summer tire, and the Adventuro ATX, an on/off-road all-terrain tire.
The Champiro SX2 RS is a DOT-approved tire that builds upon a product that was originally developed for Formula Draft, according to Thomas Okihisa, GT Radial director of marketing.
The Champiro SX2 RS is “intended for track day enthusiasts,” says Okihisa, who adds that the tire is available in two, W-rated sizes: 245/40ZR18 and 295/40ZR18.
It features a high-performance, race-inspired compound formulated for both street and track applications; advanced construction; an asymmetric tread pattern; dual shoulder blocks and extra-large shoulder blocks for optimal cornering and grip; a wide center rib; and other elements.
The Champiro SX2 RS is manufactured “at our factory in South Carolina and was developed by our R&D people who are in the same facility.”
The new Adventuro ATX all-terrain tire provides pickup truck and SUV owners with aggressive looks and balanced on/off-road performance.
Featuring 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake certification, the tire delivers optimal performance in winter conditions and features sidewall cleats for enhanced grip on loose surfaces, plus an interlocked center rib for dependable on-road handling and stability, wide shoulder channels for excellent performance on wet surfaces and stair-step grooves for enhanced off-road traction.
The Adventuro ATX, which also is manufactured in South Carolina, is available in nine P-metric sizes. By the end of 2020, it will be available in a total of 27 P-metric and LT sizes for 74% coverage of the North American all-terrain market.
“We also have ongoing size extensions happening in our existing product lines,” Okihisa told MTD.
