Canadian drivers "are set to hit the road in droves" after COVID-19 restrictions lift, according to the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada (TRAC.)
A recent survey commissioned by TRAC reveals that 61% of Canadian drivers are planning a summer road trip.
"Among drivers aged 18 to 34 and 35 to 44, that number climbs to 70% and 72%, respectively," say TRAC officials.
"Not surprisingly, COVID-19 has had a major impact on summer driving intentions," with 60% of respondents reporting that "restrictions imposed by the pandemic had a big influence on their decision to take a vacation involving driving this summer."
Findings also suggest that a significant number of vehicle owners have neglected their tires during the pandemic.
Nearly 20% admitted they have not checked their tire pressure levels "at all" during the past year.
"Yet despite these lapses in tire care, 95% of drivers agree proper tire inflation is essential to vehicle safety," say TRAC officials.
