Tire Group International LLC took its Cosmo brand tires to NOLA Motorsports Park and the team finished fifth in class at the 24 Hours of Lemons race and the No. 222 Volkswagen Beetle finished 25th overall.
The 24 Hours of Lemons at NOLA put the Cosmo MuchoMacho tires to another ultimate test via a maximum workload over a prolonged period of time. The MuchoMacho performed well under grueling race conditions, and held up well from hundreds of laps of the endurance race.
The 24 Hours of Lemons is a fun twist on the endurance racing genre that pits cars purchased and race-prepped in accordance with specific budget and performance guidelines against each other for an ultimate test of holding it together under less than ideal driving conditions. Safety equipment, brakes, tires and roll cages are all a requirement as the competition can get heated.
"It was a thrill to come in fifth place in our class,” said Jonathan Brownfield, a Team Cosmo driver and automotive journalist. "The MuchoMachos held up great; they didn’t get slippery when overheated and performed consistently lap after lap.”
“Our brand is synonymous with Motorsports,” said Joaquin Gonzalez, President of Cosmo Tires. “Cosmo is about performance, innovation and value; there is no better way to test our tires and innovate than by challenging our engineering in the cauldron of racing. We are very proud of the high finish for our team.”
