Within a five-month span, Indy Tire Centers Inc. dba Best-One of Indy is set to acquire its third tire dealership in Indiana. On Sept. 1 the company will take over operations of Robinson Tire & Auto Service in Lafayette.
Robinson Tire, which opened in 1995, is owned by John Robinson. He had worked in the tire business since 1973, learning it from his father and grandfather who both retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
Robinson opened the doors with his son, "Jr.", by his side.
“These 26 years at Robinson Tire would not have been possible without the loyalty and friendship of all of our customers and great employees.” says John Robinson. “I have been very fortunate for that, and am forever grateful. While I will be retiring, I am also pleased to reassure our customers that Jr. and Dave will still be at the business.”
The store will be rebranded as Best-One of Lafayette.
The addition of the Robinson Tire store gives Best-One of Indy 15 locations and more than 190 employees across central Indiana. The acquisition follows the July purchase of Riley Park Tire in Greenfield, and the April addition of the two-store operation of R&T Tire.
Consumers in Lafayette are already familiar with the Best-One name, as there used to be a retail store there. Plus the company already operates a commercial business in Lafayette: Best-One Fleet Service of Lafayette.
“We are excited to bring a Best-One retail location back to the Lafayette community and look forward to continuing the legacy that John has built in the area,” says Rich Elliott, president of Best-One of Indy. “For 35 years, we have been family-owned, and we plan to keep the same family, local feel while delivering superior customer service and being a trusted provider of retail, commercial and ag tires.”
