Podcast: Building a Bench of Technicians for the Future

Dec. 8, 2022

Black’s Tire Service Inc. has developed a scalable training program to help build its next generation of technicians. And it’s building that bench of essential employees with the help of state tax credits and reimbursements.

Gary Collier, a former high school trade educator, is leading the effort at Black’s Tire Service. The tire dealership has developed a pre-apprenticeship program in conjunction with high schools throughout North and South Carolina. And when students complete that program, they can move on to a full state-endorsed apprenticeship.

Students earn school credit, are paid for their time, all the while Black’s Tire Service is helping solve one of its most critical needs – employees to fill the technician gap. Collier shares the details in the most recent episode of The Modern Tire Dealer Show.
