Bridgestone Americas Inc. has introduced its V-Steel Port Container Straddle (VPCS) tire for straddle container handlers used in port terminals and intermodal yards.
The VPCS is engineered with enhanced load capacity, speed rating and durability for extended tire life.
“Ports face unique challenges and need equipment that remains productive in virtually any kind of condition, 24 hours a day and seven days a week,” says Rob Seibert, president, of Off the Road, U.S. and Canada, Bridgestone Americas.
“With the VPCS, our team of engineers set out to design a tire that meets these challenges head-on and keeps our world’s supply chain moving forward.”
The Bridgestone VPCS radial tire is currently available in two sizes: 450/95R25 and 480/95R25.
According to Bridgestone officials, key innovations in the design of the Bridgestone VPCS radial tire include a new tread pattern and more durable casing structure for 22% longer service life; a new high-strength casing design that delivers a 28% higher load index; and cooler running tire design that provides a 40% higher max speed.
