Bridgestone Corp. is investing $169.9 million to upgrade equipment at its OTR tire plant in Japan.
The plant builds OTR tires, including Bridgestone's Mastercore line, for markets all over the world, including North America.
The investment "will not only ensure a high-quality and stable supply, but also further elevate the level of safety, disaster prevention, eco-friendliness, quality and productivity" of the facility, according to Bridgestone officials, who add that equipment upgrades will not impact the plant's current output.
Bridgestone's Mastercore OTR tires operate in more than 100 mines.
