Estes Express Lines, which has 280 terminals, is deploying more of Snider Tire Inc.’s drive-over tire inspection systems at its locations.
The system, called WheelRight, “has proven a powerful tool in identifying tire issues, significantly reducing downtime and emergency roadside service events,” say Snider Tire officials.
“The WheelRight system employs advanced technologies to automatically capture key data in a six-second roll-over. Tire pressure, tread depth and damage data are communicated in real time to fleet managers, who are able to address potential issues before a truck leaves the fleet yard.”
MTD first reported on WheelRight in December 2020.
“Safety and efficiency are at the core of everything we do,” says Mike Palmer, vice president of fleet services at Estes Express Lines, which bills itself as North America’s largest privately owned freight carrier.
“Integrating WheelRight technology across more of our terminals ensures that our fleet operates at peak performance, while also reducing our environmental impact.”
The fleet first engaged with WheelRight in 2020 through its U.S. truck tire supplier, Fort Mill, S.C.-based Snider Tire Inc., which does business as Snider Fleet Solutions.
“The operational impact has been significant. This expansion follows successful initial implementations at select terminals, where the technology has improved tire management, reduced costs, and elevated fleet readiness.”
“Snider and Estes have a 30-plus year partnership,” says Keith Allen, senior vice president at Snider Tire. “They trust us to bring them the latest technologies to help reduce tire costs and keep their equipment on the road.”
Snider Tire, which has 80 locations and nine retread plants, is the fourth largest commercial truck tire dealership in the United States, according to the latest edition of MTD’s Top 25 U.S. Commercial Tire Dealers list.
