AAA has projected that 119.3 million people will travel 50 miles or more from home over the holiday season from Dec. 21 to Jan. 1.
AAA expects an additional three million travelers this season compared to last year.
The company predicts that nearly 90% of holiday travelers will be driving to their destinations -- that's around 107 million people which is 2.5 million higher than last year.
The year 2019 held a record of 108 million people driving to their holiday destinations.
AAA car rental partner Hertz says Denver, Colo.; Las Vegas, Nev.; Miami, Fla.; Oahu, Hawaii; Phoenix, Ariz.; and Tampa, Fla. to be the cities displaying the highest rental car demand for the holidays.
