Trelleborg Wheel Systems Americas Inc.'s tire manufacturing plant in Hartville, Ohio, will close in May. Production will be sent to Sri Lanka.
As announced in 2006, the plant was originally scheduled to close the first quarter of 2009. However, the company decided to extend production through the first week of May.
"By doing this, we are creating the conditions for a strong global production structure," says Maurizio Vischi, business area president, Trelleborg. "This enables us to remain competitive and grow."
Trelleborg Wheel Systems Americas' corporate headquarters will remain in Hartville, an Akron suburb.
