13 Bruce Scher’s Goodyear stores close

Dec. 20, 2012

The 13 tire stores owned by Scher’s Superior Tire Inc. in Las Vegas were closed on Monday, Dec. 17.

According to Vice President Richard Warburton, the move follows the death of owner Bruce Scher, 56, who died unexpectedly in his sleep on Dec. 4, 2012.

“It’s our intent to take care of all our customers and employees,” he says. “All employees will be paid in full this week.”

The stores did business as Bruce Scher’s Goodyear in Las Vegas. Scher also was president of a related company, Scher Tire Inc. based in Riverside, Calif. Its 17 stores, located in Southern California, will remain open.

Bruce Scher opened his first tire and automotive service center in 1981. He grew his dealership to 30 stores, which ranked 39th on the 2012 Modern Tire Dealer 100 list of the top dealerships in the United States.
