Like a phoenix, Jack Williams Tire Co. has risen from the ashes in Mount Pocono, Pa. And the rise took less than five months.
The store is back in business following a July fire that destroyed the facility. Following the fire, owner Bill Williams quickly drafted plans to build a state-of-the-art facility in its place, even as he temporarily relocated the operation in Pocono Summit.
“Although our store’s staff was able to continue to service the tire and auto needs of its customers in a temporary location less than one mile down the road, it’s great to be back on our feet at our home location”, says Jason Denig, the store's general manager.
On Monday, Nov. 18, the Mount Pocono store held its "Grand Re-Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony." As part of the event, Jack Williams Tire awarded $5,500 to the volunteer fire departments that responded to the fire.
The company had raised the funds by organizing a Handy Jack Gives Back campaign. The Pocono Summit Volunteer Fire Department, primary responder during the fire, was awarded a $1,000 donation; Fire Chief George Tallmadge says the money will be used for fire department equipment.
Volunteer fire departments from Tobyhanna, Coolbaugh, Pocono Mountain, Barrett, Tunkhannock Township, Thornhurst, Pocono Township, Jackson Township and Gouldsboro were each awarded $500.
“From the local police department and emergency medical services, to almost a dozen volunteer fire departments, the volume of responders to battle the store blaze was nothing short of impressive,” says Jason Williams, executive vice president of Jack Williams Tire.
