Amazon.com Inc. has added more than 400 Monro Inc. locations in nine states to its brick and mortar tire installation network. That more than doubles the number of service locations involved in the collaboration between Amazon and Monro.

That also gives Amazon more than 2,000 outlets nationwide. The other retailers offering their locations to Amazon for tire installation services are Pep Boys-Manny, Moe & Jack (974 stores) and Sears Holdings Corp. (286 Sears Auto Centers).

Monro has said it will eventually make all of its stores available to Amazon for tire installation. As of April 12, 2019, Monro had 1,226 stores in 29 states.

"The rollout of our Amazon.com collaboration has been progressing very smoothly and we are pleased to announce that we are expanding this option for tire installation to more than 800 stores across the United States, representing approximately two-thirds of our store base," says Brett Ponton, CEO and president of Monro. "Additionally, we have achieved an average 4.6 star rating at the locations where these services are available, underscoring the progress we’ve made in delivering a consistent best-in-class experience to our customers.

"Building a true omni-channel presence remains a key initiative of our Monro.Forward strategy, and we look forward to continuing to expand this collaboration."

Initially launched in the greater Baltimore area, these tire installation services are now available to customers who purchase tires from Amazon.com and select the Ship-to-Store option at over 800 locations operating under a number of Monro brands in 21 states across the United States. The new states added to the program are Arkansas, Delaware, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, Wisconsin and West Virginia. Monro remains on track to continue adding retail locations through fiscal 2020.

In fiscal 2018, the company launched its Monro.Forward strategy, which focuses on driving operational excellence and delivering a consistent best-in-class customer experience to build a scalable platform for sustainable growth. Monro’s expanded collaboration with Amazon.com is a key component of its customer-centric engagement and omni-channel initiatives.
