Federal-Mogul’s Garage Gurus app wins award

April 23, 2015

Federal-Mogul Motorparts, a division of Federal-Mogul Holdings Corp., has received the 2015 National Catalog Managers Association (NCMA) President’s Gold Award for Catalog Excellence for its free “Garage Gurus” (formerly “SmartChoice Mobile”) app.

The annual award recognizes the best examples of printed and electronic catalogs and related product research tools used in the auto care industry.

Launched in conjunction with Federal-Mogul Motorparts’ “Tech First” initiative, the company says the Garage Gurus app enables users of iPhone and Android devices to instantly access the latest Federal-Mogul Motorparts parts information and technical support for virtually any passenger car or light truck, and communicate detailed inspection findings, including photos and repair estimate, directly to the vehicle owner.

The app includes VIN scanning and license plate to VIN technology that can instantly capture critical vehicle information and link the user to all corresponding parts and repair information.

The app complements the company’s new Garage Gurus technical education platform, which offers on-site, online and on-demand training and related support to front-line automotive service professionals.

The platform comprises a network of state-of-the-art regional training centers, Web-connected “Gurus-On-The-Go” product technology vans and an extensive curriculum of eLearning courses available at www.FMgaragegurus.com. The Garage Gurus app enables users to access many of these resources when and where they need them.

“We’re pleased to receive this award from NCMA. The Garage Gurus app has already been very popular among automotive service professionals and we expect its reach to multiply as we expand the Garage Gurus network,” says Brent Berman, director of training, consumer experience and marketing, Federal-Mogul Motorparts.

“It is instrumental in providing auto service professionals with reliable, fast and extensive repair information so they can quickly and efficiently complete jobs and communicate with their customers.”

The free app can be downloaded through the Apple App Store and Google Play as well as the company’s website.
