SEMA Show, Day One: 3M courts OEMs

Nov. 1, 2011

Eight automotive OEM assembly plants are using the 3M Wheel Weight System. However, that number will rise significantly in 2012, according to 3M Co.

The company made the announcement at the 2011 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas, Nev. In addition, 3M lead-free wheel weights also have:

* gained status as the preferred wheel balancing system for two major racing teams in extreme-use applications;

* established programs with multiple OEM ports, municipalities/utility and rental car fleets.

“We are excited about the high level of OEM acceptance and use of 3M wheel weights,” said Kyle Lasenby, business development manager, 3M Automotive Division.

"Our OEM customers are reporting significant daily savings in storage costs by reducing inventory, and in retest and rebalance requirements due to precision balancing -- down to the gram. Tire stores and dealerships can provide this same value and reliability to their customers.”

3M is displaying its lead-free wheel weights at SEMA Show booth No. 12025. For more information, visit www.3M.com
