Don Barnes Sr., former owner of Allen Park, Mich.-based Belle Tire Distributors, died earlier this week at the age of 83.
Belle Tire is one of the largest independent tire store chains in the United States with 79 total locations throughout the Great Lakes region. The company is run by Barnes' sons. Don Barnes Jr. is its president and Bob Barnes serves as its CEO.
Don Barnes Sr. is survived by his wife, three children, grandchildren and other relatives.
