CTNA rolls out HSU2 medium truck tire

July 2, 2009

Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) has introduced its latest steer axle medium truck tire, the Continental HSU2.

The HSU2 replaces the Continental HSU medium truck tire and is available in size 315/80R22.5.

Manufactured at CTNA's plant in Mt. Vernon, Ill., the HSU2 boasts 17% more wear volume than its predecessor, according to CTNA officials.

Features include a cut- and tear-resistant tread compound for added protection in high-scrub applications, a stone ejection system, "an innovative sidewall curb," and others.

It also contains CTNA's proprietary Visual Alignment Indicator system, "a series of sipes at graduated tread depths, equally spaced around the inside and outside shoulder ribs. The sipes allow for easy detection of wear differences between the shoulder ribs, signaling a potential sign of vehicle front-end alignment problems."

The tire's enhanced bead design enables a 10,000-pound load carrying capacity at 65 miles per hour.
