K&W Tire unveils new dealer Web portal

Aug. 26, 2013

Lancaster, Pa.-based tire distributor K&W Tire Co. Inc. has unveiled its new wholesale dealer Web portal.

It offers its dealers many upgrades over its previous site, including a new way to search for vehicle tire sizes. Instead of the usual array of pull down windows, dealers simply types in what type of vehicle for which they want the tire size.

Jeff Hood, K&W's COO, says, "I always thought the standard method was a waste of time. Our dealers said they wanted an online tire guide, so I thought when we bring out the new site we'll give them one that does the job better and easier than everyone else's.

“It's more intuitive and saves steps. If you want to know what fits on a 2010 BMW 328i, you can simply type in 10 BMW and scroll through the models until you see the exact one, or enter 10 BMW 328i and go directly to it. Then with one click it takes you to our available inventory to make your choices.  It's all incredibly easy and fast. You can type in as much or as little as you want. The system fills in the blanks. Type in 'Chevy' and it knows what you mean."

This type of software innovation is not new for Hood. In addition to running K&W, he is a partner in a software company.  Hood said, "We take a lot of pleasure in doing things for our dealer partners. They are our lifeblood."

K&W Tire has 11 locations in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Vermont. For more information, email Jeff Short, vice president of sales, at [email protected].
