Michelin North America Inc. is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its Ardmore, Okla., plant, which employs more than 1,700 people.
The 1.5 million-square-foot plant can produce 40,000 passenger and 3,000 light truck tires at full capacity, according to MTD research.
The factory originally began as a Uniroyal Goodrich Tire Co. facility in 1969, and came into the Michelin fold when Michelin acquired Uniroyal Goodrich in 1990. Overall, Michelin has invested more than $400 million in the factory.
