Black's Tire Service Ready to Tee Off for Charity

Sept. 12, 2024

Black’s Tire Service Inc. is hosting its annual charity golf tournament on Sept. 19 to support the Boys & Girls Homes of North Carolina.

The final cut-off date to register to golf is Monday, Sept. 16.

Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 19 at Myrtle Beach National and golfers will tee off at 10 a.m. The $95 entry fee per person includes greens fees, cart and food. Both breakfast and lunch will be served.

There will be prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin on both the West and South Creek course, as well prizes for the top two golfers on each course.

Donations to support the charity and event are welcome. All proceeds go directly to the Boys & Girls Homes. (Checks can be made payable to the Boys & Girls Homes and mailed to: BTS Charity Weekend, P.O. Box 919, Whiteville, N.C. 28472.)

The tire dealership’s connection and support of the Boys & Girls Homes of North Carolina goes back decades — and generations.

Both Black’s Tire Service and the charity are celebrating big anniversaries in 2024. Black’s Tire Service is marking 95 years in business, and it has been supporting the Boys & Girls Homes of North Carolina for all 70 years of that organization’s existence.

The founder of Black’s Tire Service, W. Crowell Black, served on the charity’s original board of directors. Now, Rick Benton, who leads the Black’s wholesale division, BTS Tire & Wheel Distributors, serves on the charity’s board of directors.

Benton said, “We believe in helping people that can’t help themselves (and) making a difference in the community and investing in the communities that invest in you. The world needs more of that.”
