Sumitomo Encounter HT2 Updated for CUVs, SUVs and Pickups

Dec. 2, 2022

The Sumitomo Encounter HT2 features upgrades in dry handling and wet braking from its predecessor the Encounter HT. The Sumitomo line is distributed in North America exclusively by TBC Brands LLC.

The new Encounter HT2 also includes improvements in tread life and a smoother, more quiet ride than its predecessor, TBC says.

The tire provides traction, toughness and versatility for drivers of SUVs, CUVs, pickups and vans. The Encounter HT2 has wide circumferential grooves and wave-shaped lateral sipes for extra hydroplaning resistance. The tire's smooth, curved shoulder grooves help reduce noise.

A reinforced bead apex and full-width, jointless nylon overlay plies give strength for cornering, plus high-speed stability.

The all-season light truck tire is available in 52 metric and light truck sizes ranging from 16 inch- to 22-inch wheels.

“The Encounter HT2 is the perfect addition to Sumitomo’s product lineup with its innovative tread design and exceptional warranty package, providing drivers a reliable and comfortable ride for their everyday adventures,” says Kyle Sanders, director of consumer product marketing for TBC Brands. “We remain committed to offering high-quality products with top-tier performance while offering dealers exceptional value.”

The tire also comes with a warranty protection package that includes a 60,000-mile limited treadwear warranty for metric and LT sizes; two years of roadside assistance coverage, a one-year tire road hazard protection plan, 30-day free test drive and free lifetime replacement for workmanship or material defects.
