A Look at Sun Auto's Recent Growth

April 17, 2025

Mesa, Ariz.-based Sun Auto Tire & Service Inc. has continued its growth trajectory by adding a number of locations within the last six months.

Earlier this month, the company  acquired two Larry Harer Goodyear stores  - one in Newark, Ohio, and another in Heath, Ohio.

“This acquisition further strengthens the Sun Auto footprint in central Ohio, following the acquisition of seven Boyd’s Tire locations in 2024,” say Sun Auto Tire & Service officials.

Last month, Sun Auto Tire & Service announced its acquisition of Piedmont Radiator and Tire in King, N.C.

“This acquisition marks another important step in the company’s continued growth throughout the (North Carolina) region, adding to the four Tire Max locations acquired in November of last year.”

The company’s purchase of Tire Max, which is based in the Greensboro, N.C., area,  bumped its store count up to 485 outlets.

Sun Auto Tire & Service also has grown by adding to existing properties, such as Plaza Tire Service Inc.

In March, the chain opened a new Plaza Tire Service location in Murray, Ky. — the seventh Plaza Tire Service store in the "Bluegrass State."

"Like other Plaza Tire Service stores, the new facility features over 6,500 square feet of space with eight service bays to perform tire installations and repairs, wheel balancing, alignments, brakes, shock and strut replacements, oil changes, battery replacements and more," said Sun Auto Tire & Service officials.

This past February, Sun Auto Tire & Service opened a new Plaza Tire Service store in Centerton, Ark.

The outlet, which spans 6,500 square feet and has eight service bays, offers a full range of tires and auto services and adds to Plaza Tire's footprint in the northwest section of Arkansas.

There are more than 75 Plaza Tire Service locations in total.

Sun Auto Tire & Service is one the five largest tire dealerships in the U.S. with more than 500 locations, according to the 2024 MTD 100
