Nebraskaland Tire, Kansasland Tire and Coloradoland Tire has extended its push into west Texas with the recent acquisition of McWhorter's Auto & Tire Service, an eight-store dealership based in Lubbock.
The deal also includes a retread plant that had been owned and operated by McWhorter's, which was founded in 1942.
Based in Lexington, Neb., Nebraskaland Tire, Kansasland Tire and Coloradoland Tire has 54 locations, including 20 retail-only stores, six commercial tire locations and 27 combined commercial/retail outlets.
"We'll keep the (McWhorter's) name the same," says Carson Wright, executive vice president of Nebraskaland Tire, Kansasland Tire and Coloradoland Tire. "They have a lot of brand equity in their area."
Prior to its acquisition of McWhorter's, Nebraskaland Tire, Kansasland Tire and Coloradoland Tire reached "as far south as Amarillo, Texas," says Wright.
