Mavis Acquires Action Gator Tire's Retail Stores

Jan. 26, 2022

Mavis Tire Express Services Corp. has acquired Orlando, Fla.-based Action Gator Tire Stores' retail outlets. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

When the 2021 MTD 100 was published this past July, Action Gator - which was owned by Christensen Enterprises - had 19 retail/commercial locations, as well as five commercial tire outlets and one distribution center, making it the 48th largest independent tire dealership in the United States.

Action Gator carries BFGoodrich, Bridgestone, Continental, Cooper, Dunlop, Firestone, Falken, General, Goodyear, Hankook, Kelly, Michelin, Pirelli, Uniroyal and Yokohama brand tires.

A spokesman for Mavis told MTD that Fred Christensen, Action Gator's longtime president, "is helping us transition and will help source future locations."

Mavis is owned by a group of investors led by BayPine LP that also includes TSG Consumer Partners LP and a holding company controlled by David and Stephen Sorbaro. Golden Gate Capital, Mavis' former lead financial partner, retained a minority interest in Mavis.

The investment group purchased Mavis during the second quarter of 2021.
