David Diehm, who founded Diehm's Tire Service in Marshall, Mo., recently died at the age of 86.
Diehms was born in 1937 in Evansville, Ind., to George Diehm and Margarete Blendinger Diehm. After graduating from Anna High School in Anna, Ohio, in 1955, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. In 1962, he married Carolyn Kay Campbell.
In the 1960s, he worked for Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. as a sign installer. Later, Diehms worked at a tire store in Marshall. In 1969, he purchased the business, which became Diehm's Tire Service.
During his career, Diehms served as president of the Missouri Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association and also was a member of the group's board.
He also participated in a number of community groups.
Preceded by his parents and two brothers, he is survived by Carolyn; two children, Mike Diehm (Lesa) and Karen Maupin (Troy), all of Marshall; nine grandchildren: Derek Barr (Andrea), Jacob Diehm (Katelyn), Olivia Hussey (Tyler), Ashlee Ibarra (Vinny), Brett Maupin (Elana), Cristina Ibarra (Collin), Isabel Ibarra, Grant Maupin and Grace Diehm (Caleb); 11 great-grandchildren; two siblings, John Diehm of Vonore, Tenn., and Margaret George of Somers, N.Y; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
