Snap-On Inc. displayed many of its new products, including its TruPoint ADAS tool, at last week's SEMA Show.
The company's Tru-Point advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) calibration tool “streamlines the calibration process from beginning to end with simple, real-time and interactive visual indicators, eliminating the need for manual measurement,” according to Alison Moody from Snap-On.
“It is a comprehensive scan tool with ADAS functionality. Tru-Point works with aftermarket original equipment manufacturer J2534 or remote calibration services.”
The Tru-Point tool also works around uneven floor levels in dealerships.
The tool adjusts the height of the target to be in the field of view of the camera, while moving equipment out in the distance, automatically compensating for lack of levelness.
The ADAS system also provides a validation report printout for dealers and confirms the vehicle's wheel alignment meets the specifications required for calibration.
Snap-On also has released its Armored wheel balancer series under its Hofmann brand.
The Armored 2400P wheel balancer automatically detects wheel dimensions and selects the appropriate balancing mode, weight type and wheel position.
A laser scanner automatically detects the number, position and rim spokes, guiding optimal wheel placement behind them for balancing.
The balancer uses SmartSonar sensors to automatically detect rim width and uses Easyweight – a streamlining weight placement – that employs a laser to indicate the exact location for weight application.
The new Armored wheel balancer is ready for electric vehicles, as well, according to Moody.
The company also expanded its Josam brand with the Josam Cam-Aligner which allows techs to align trucks with multiple steered axles, plus buses and light commercial vehicles, trailers, semi-trucks and more.
The camera-based system has been developed for hash environments and uses the same technology and measuring methods as numerous OEM manufacturing facilities.
