Les Schwab Enters Nebraska Market

Feb. 28, 2025

Les Schwab Tire Centers Inc. has entered the Nebraska market with the acquisition of Modern Tire Pros in North Platte.

“Les Schwab Tires started in a small town in 1952 and rural communities are in our DNA,” says Les Schwab Area Manager Jimmy Samdal. "We bring generations of hard work and dedication and our commitment to service extends beyond customers. We’re also dedicated to supporting our employees and communities and we look forward to doing that here in North Platte.”

Modern Tire Pros Owner Gary Jones says that after 43 years in business, the time was right to sell to with a like-minded company like Les Schwab Tires.

“Our shared focus on unparalleled service and great value made us a perfect fit,” he explains. "Les Schwab Tires was founded on a belief in honesty, integrity and doing what’s right for the customer every time. It matters a lot to us to leave our great customers in good hands.”

Les Schwab Tires will officially take ownership of the Modern Tire Pros location on March 1. A community grand opening event is planned for early-April.

Based in Bend, Ore., Les Schwab operates in 15 states and is one of the five largest tire dealerships  in the U.S., according to the latest edition of the MTD 100.

In early-February, the dealership announced it had acquired Pete's Road Service, which has 10 stores, a retread plant and a distribution center in southern California.

Founded in 1969 by Pete Fletcher, Pete's Road Service will continue to operate under its current name, according to Les Schwab officials.
