American Tire Distributors Inc. is increasing its flat-rate shipping rates on passenger, light truck and trailer tires ordered through ATD Total Access, a program that gives independent tire dealers access to ATD’s national inventory beyond their local network.
The price hike goes into effect on Monday, July 5. Tire Pros dealers can continue to use ATD Total Access without a fee.
For ATD Activate customers, the rate is increasing to $6 per unit.
For all other eligible customers, the price will be $12 per unit.
In a note to customers, ATD said it was increasing its price in response to higher shipping costs that have come “as a result of COVID-19 and its disruption of our global supply chains. Higher demand and light capacity have led many parcel services to adjust their shipping rates in recent months.”
ATD operates more than 130 distribution centers, and Owen Schiano, chief operating officer at ATD, tells MTD that ATD Total Access “gives these independent dealers the ability to order these (passenger, light truck and trailer) tires through our national network by way of discounted flat-rate shipping.”
Schiano says ATD Activate is a customer loyalty program open to any ATD independent dealer. There is no minimum purchase requirement, and it gives dealers access to “an array of value-added services to our dealers, including a nationwide guarantee program, financing solutions and discounted flat-rate shipping on ATD Total Access products.”
