Nexen Tire America Inc. says it's integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and 3D printing into tire mold production.
“The traditional tire development process involves designing structures and patterns, creating molds, manufacturing prototypes and finally testing them,” say Nexen officials.
“Nexen Tire has successfully streamlined this process and enhanced product precision by incorporating XAI (eXplainable AI) and 3D printing technologies into tire development.”
According to Nexen, XAI “helps understand and analyze the causes and processes behind the results generated by machine learning algorithms.”
The tiremaker uses XAI to create virtual tire models and assess tire performance in virtual environments, which increases “the accuracy and speed of tire development.”
Nexen officials add that 3D printing helps speed up the tire mold production process.
“The ultimate goal of our technological innovations is to enhance customer satisfaction,” says Brian Yoonseok Han, CEO of Nexen Tire America.
