Hankook's Williams Talks Tire Technology

Rob Williams, president of Hankook Tire America Corp., discussed technological advancements in tires at the recent Tire Society conference.

The 43rd annual event is taking place this week in Akron, Ohio.

During his keynote presentation, which kicked off the conference, Williams told attendees that "we in this industry have to keep on advancing technology because of consumer wants and needs."

Williams discussed how consumers are now expecting more technological advancements in the tires they buy.

“The work that you’re doing is providing safer mobility to consumers,” he said, citing run-flat technology, tire pressure monitoring sensors, sound absorption technology in electric vehicle tires and self-sealing tire technology as examples of solutions that tiremakers have developed in response to market demand.  

“There was a consumer need and you met those needs with solutions," he said, 

At the end of Williams' keynote, he gave a call to action to everyone present, encouraging them to continue making advancements that will benefit the tire industry and tire buyers.
