More Details on Bridgestone Plant Shutdown

Jan. 27, 2025

TBR tire production from Bridgestone Americas Inc.’s LaVergne, Tenn., plant “will be shared among several existing plants,” say Bridgestone officials.

"With respect to long-term finished tire production, it will be assumed by existing Bridgestone Americas plants. No jobs are being transferred to or added at other locations."

On Jan. 23, Bridgestone announced that it will shutter the LaVergne plant, which has the capacity to build 3,100 truck and bus tires per day, according to MTD’s 2025 Facts Issue.

The company’s other North American TBR tire plant – a facility in Warren County, Tenn. - can manufacture 9,400 units per day at full bore.

A $550 million investment at Bridgestone’s Warren County plant is underway and “still on track with (its) original schedule to facilitate new technology development capabilities,” Bridgestone officials recently told MTD.

The capital infusion is expected to expand the Warren County facility by 850,000 square feet and will give Bridgestone the ability to manufacture TBR tires equipped with radio frequency identification tags.

Bridgestone will close the LaVergne facility on July 32, 2025. The factory employs 700 people.

On Jan. 23, Bridgestone also announced that it will reduce capacity and workforce at its ag tire plant in Des Moines, Iowa, and will make “workforce reductions” at its headquarters in Nashville, Tenn.
