Pirelli Motorsport travels to Montreal, Canada this week, bringing over 2,000 P Zero racing slicks and a team of engineers and technical personnel for Saturday’s Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series Montreal 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The two-hour timed sprint is 2009’s only Grand-Am Rolex Series race on international soil, and will be run on the 2.708 Montreal Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit starting at 2:15 p.m. ET Saturday, August 29. Live coverage on SPEED begins at 2 p.m. ET (11 a.m. PT). Practice and qualifying is on Friday.
The Montreal 200 is round 10 of 12 for the 2009 Grand-Am season, and kicks off a three-race run leading straight to the 2009 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype and GT championships.
Having scored a breakout podium finish just two weeks ago in the Crown Royal 200 at Watkins Glen International Raceway, Scott Tucker and Christophe Bouchut - drivers of the No. 55 Supercar Life Racing BMW Riley - hope to continue their success this weekend with a strong finish. Team principal Tucker has extensive experience on Pirellis in Ferrari Challenge competition and on the challenging Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.
“We have worked with Pirelli for five years in the Ferrari Challenge series and for the second year now in Grand-Am Rolex GT and Daytona Prototypes,” said Tucker, who also brings years of experience on the Montreal track where he has raced in Ferrari Challenge, Porsche Super Cup and Rolex Series GT in a Ferrari. “We are very familiar with the behavior and characteristics of the tire from all of the time we have used them in Ferrari Challenge, and we were very glad that the Rolex Series picked up the (P Zero) as the official tire of the series.”
